Preserving a moment,
in the very act of becoming.
I take part,
in the existence of things.‘
My objective is less about portraying a literal representation of a place but rather an attempt to convey feelings surrounding ephemerality and the role of the custodian, using the form of a book as a repository or container. Requiring both touch and time as a process and language, it can enable new readings of a site.
‘Printed Matter’ was made at Oakley Beat, a famous fishing beat on Mottisfont Estate. Using camera-less, historical photographic processes, light sensitive papers were placed on site using local plants and left for long periods of time. Being exposed to the spontaneous elements of chance, weather and light, resulted in each print becoming a unique record of time and place.
