Sustainable Darkroom REWORK Residency 20 - 26 April 2020
Led by artist Hannah Fletcher, the participants selected unpicked the systems that hold together the photographic darkroom and consider how they negatively or positively impact the wider ecosystem. As a group 'codes of good practice' were considered and why these are not always necessary to follow or enforce. Raising questions and issues surrounding the importance of archive-ability, current systems thinking was discussed and revised, which included circular economies, including a collaboration with Phytology to look at water and chemical disposal and attempting to create systems using hyperaccumulating plants and alternative water systems.
